Why robotics made me a better engineer

Robotics is my passion, but it has also been my best engineering school. Not because of the electronics, but because of the way of thinking it forces you to develop.
Systems thinking. A robot fails at the interfaces: the sensor that lies, the loose cable, the loop that loses sync. You learn not to fall in love with a single component and to reason about the whole system. That is exactly what it takes to lead the delivery of a product.
Fail fast and cheap. In robotics the feedback is brutally honest: the robot moves or it does not. That trains you to build the smallest experiment that answers your question, instead of polishing for weeks something that may not work.
Respect for reality. The code can be perfect and the robot still hits the wall, because friction, latency and noise exist. That humility before real data is the same one I apply in CRO: I do not assume, I measure.
That is why I like bringing robotics into my work: it is not a separate hobby, it is the source of the mindset I use to tackle every problem.
